Try the tray in the mouth and assess any areas which may require tray adjustment e.g. Tuberosity region in edentulous cases or width of upper molar teeth region in dentate cases.

Heat Mouldable Impression Trays
Transform™ Impression Trays are made from a heat mouldable material which allows them to be moulded quickly and simply with hot water in less than 60 seconds at chairside to create precise primary impressions which leads to increased quality in subsequent stages.

Dip the selected part of the tray to be moulded in hot water at 70°C for 20 seconds, the material will become soft and malleable at this stage.

Mould the material to the desired shape. Retain in this position until hard (approx. 10 seconds). Allow the material to cool or dip in cold running water.

The material will retain the exact moulded shape and maintain its full strength. This process may be repeated until the desired shape is achieved. The modified tray can now be used to take the impression.
Heat moulding in the mouth is not recommended as there may be difficulties if there are undercuts. The recommended technique is to assess the features in the mouth, heat the tray and adapt by hand out of the mouth.
